Project overview

Receel sells complete solar installations to consumers. The challenge was making a technically complex product buyable online: the customer needs to understand what the system produces, what it costs and what their roof requires — before they dare add anything to a basket. We built a store where configuration, energy calculation and payment live in one flow.

Challenges

  • Product bundles with interdependent components and many valid combinations
  • Energy estimates based on geography, roof angle and historical weather data
  • Strict security requirements for payments and strong customer authentication
  • Heavy product imagery that wrecked mobile performance

Our solution

  • A modular configurator that validates combinations as you go rather than at checkout
  • A custom energy calculator wired to geographic and meteorological APIs
  • Stripe with 3D Secure and clear error messaging at every step
  • Automated image optimisation and lazy loading below the fold
